My Node.js Experience

I have been using Node.js for over 10 years and combined with Typescript for strong typing, Javascript is becoming the go-to for both backend and frontend development.

If I was starting a new web application, I would likely use Node.js due to the full-stack consistency, high performance, real-time technologies like WebSockets and a natural fit with microservices like AWS Lambda.

What I Like About Node.js

JavaScript everywhere - I can use the same language on both the front end and back end.
Great for real-time applications such as chat apps, live dashboards, or collaborative tools using WebSockets.
Microservice friendly - runs on AWS Lambda out of the box.
Easy to learn - any full-stack developer knows Javascript making it easy to onboard new developers even without Node.js experience.

Frameworks & Tools

Express

Lightweight framework for building web applications and APIs, easy to deploy as microservices.

AWS SAM

I use the AWS Serverless Application Model for developing & deploying Node.js Lambda Microservices.

Jest

I am a firm believer in Test Driven Development (TDD) and have used Jest for applying this approach with the Express framework.
